Don’t stress, sis—we all go through those phases!
Plateaus and tough phases are part of the journey. But instead of beating yourself up, let’s refocus. It’s important to remember that there are so many factors that influence our rate of progression, and sometimes, a little mindset or strategy shift is all we need.
Here are five things to consider if you’re feeling stuck:
1. Pay Attention to Your Internal Dialogue
The way you speak to yourself is f*cking KEY!
If you’re going into something already doubting yourself, then the chances of having a positive outcome are slim to none. You’re literally setting the tone for failure before even beginning.
Our thoughts are more powerful than we think, but we still have the power to overwrite them.
You choose whether you allow them to control you, or you control them.
2. Are You Doing Something You Genuinely Enjoy?
Be honest – are you working out because you love it, or because everyone else is doing it?
Movement comes in many different forms—weightlifting, yoga, swimming, hiking, pole dancing—you name it. Learning what you truly enjoy and sticking to that, will get you the best results.
Because at the end of the day, how likely are you to stick to something that you fkn hate doing?
Now, that’s not to say you’re not gonna dread showing up sometimes – we all do! But when you do something you enjoy, showing up on those tough days just makes it that little bit easier.
3. Start Small and Build From There
Going balls-to-the-wall from the get go rarely works long term.
We all know the feeling of shiny object syndrome far too well.
When something is new and exciting, you just wanna go ALL IN and give it everything you’ve got.
But when you realise it may be harder than you thought, or the novelty of it has worn off – you give up.
The reality? Success is built on small, consistent steps over time.
Start with 2-3 workouts a week instead of five.
Focus on 15 minutes of movement instead of an hour.
Add one healthy habit instead of overhauling your entire routine.
It’s not about perfection; it’s about showing up, day in and day out, for the long haul.
4. Appreciate Your F*cking Small Wins!
We SUCK at celebrating ourselves.
We’re so quick to compliment and acknowledge other people’s wins, but as soon as someone points out ours, we all of a sudden have tall poppy syndrome and can’t take a compliment.
Do this begins with you!
Learn how to compliment YOURSELF, and appreciate the smalls wins along the way.
Not every day or week is going to be amazing, but with the good comes the bad. Even acknowledging how you show up for yourself when times get tough can be a great reminder to yourself that you are a fkn bad bitch and you can do anything you set your mind to – and remind yourself of this often.
Something I know we hear a lot, but yet again we still suck at doing.
There’s really no point overwhelming yourself with your entire week / month ahead.
Instead, just focus on right NOW.
Ask yourself:
What’s one thing I can do today to get closer to my goal?
Can I squeeze in a quick workout or prep a healthy meal?
How can I show up for myself in this moment?
The work happens in the now. One small, intentional step at a time adds up to big results.
Progress isn’t linear, and it doesn’t have to be perfect. But with the right mindset and approach, you can keep moving forward—even when it feels hard.
You’ve done hard things before, and you can do them again.
Go out there and remind yourself just how strong, capable, and badass you are.
